Wednesday Caving Club (WRPCWCC)
County Pot - Wednesday 16th March 2016
After many years since my last visit to Bull Pot Farm it seems as if they moved the farm and extended the road a few miles.
Avoiding the rush hour and setting off just after 9am, made it there in time.
Jack was there...Phil was running a bit late.
Had to get the car back home for 6pm, so needed to be back at the car for 4pm.
So...a bit of a tight schedule - sorry guys!
Had all of my kit just in case, but only needed a belt - and a couple of slings...
Sunny and not raining!!!
The entrance (as probably known to all) is the drain cover with a 10 foot drop - an easy climb down as long as you pay attention.
The rest is covered by Jack's review - the interesting climb out of Broardway needs a bit more information....having looked at the available options, Jack managed to get up.
For me, it was not so simple - nearly made it on the first attempt, but just could not get myself far enough over the edge to pull up. The other option was to approach from the left hand side and once on the right foothold, stand up and roll over the edge...but could not stand as too tall!!! Reverted to a sling pull from Jack and a foot hold from Phil.
For future reference, if only two on this trip, bring a lump hammer and chisel and cut out some foot holes - conservationists may suggest a ladder?
